Our target population is the homeless and the poor of
Somerville and the surrounding towns that do not offer
the services we provide. Last year we served over 300
in our case management and housing programs and
over 1,500 in our food pantries with Project SOUP.

The Somerville area's homeless population is quite
diverse, and our range of shelters and services
responds to this diverse constituency. We serve
elders, single working adults, disabled individuals,
and many families with children from newborns to
teenagers.

The typical homeless family we see is a mother with
two children. Many of these families receive transitional
assistance benefits, although some are working parents
whose income is still so low they remain in poverty.
